Audit Advisory Committee
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, pursuant to California Government Code §54974, that vacancies
exist on the newly created Audit Advisory Committee. There are seven open positions. All seven
citizen representatives will be appointed to a two-year term expiring December 31, 2026 (and
then every two years thereafter). The successful appointee(s)will be required to file a Statement
of Economic Interest(Form 700)within 30 days of assuming office; and complete Ethics Training
and Sexual Harassment Prevention Training and Education as required by State law (California
Government Code §53235, §53237.1).
The Audit Advisory Committee is established to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council
regarding the City's accounting and internal control systems and provide advice to the City
Council regarding safeguards over City assets, including but not limited to the following:
1. Reporting to the City Council annually of Committee proceedings;
2. Conduct planning and exit meetings as it relates to the annual financial audit.
Qualifications: Members shall have their primary residence or primary place of employment in
the City of Orange. In addition, business-related experience and/or a designation of Certified
Public Accountant (CPA) is desirable.
No member of the Committee shall be financially interested in any contract, or otherwise conduct
any business with any member of the City Council, the City Manager, the Finance Director, the
City Treasurer, or the City or any of its agencies, either on an individual basis or as a partner,
major shareholder, member, or employee of any firm.
Meetings: Held on the first Thursday of February and October at 5:30 p.m.
Application Deadline: Open until filled. In accordance with Govt. Code 54974, final appointment
to the commission shall not be made by the City Council for at least 10 business days after the
posting of this notice.
