RES-11383 ARBOR DAY - APRIL 29, 2022RESOLUTION NO. 11383 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE DESIGNATING APRIL 29, 2022 AS ARBOR DAY WHEREAS, in 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees and this special day, called "Arbor Day," was first observed with the planting of more than one million trees in Nebraska. This day is now observed throughout the Nation and the World; and WHEREAS,participating in Arbor Day events promotes the development of civic pride, a sense of community, highlights the importance of planting and caring for trees; and WHEREAS,trees are living green infrastructure, which produce oxygen, clean the air of pollutants, sequester carbon, help manage storm water, and provide essential habitat for wildlife; and WHEREAS,trees in our City increase property values, and enhance economic vitality of business areas. NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange as follows: 1.That the foregoing recitals are incorporated in and made part of this Resolution by reference; 2.That the City Council does hereby designate Friday, April 29, 2022 as Arbor Day within the City of Orange.
