11.15.2021 LBOT MINUTES - APPROVED APPROVE BY LBOT 01/24/2022 MINUTES -FINAL City of Orange Orange Public Library Board of Trustees November 15, 2021 1. OPENING/CALL TO ORDER - Chair Martinez called the meeting to order at 3:29 p.m. 1.1 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Led by Chair Martinez. 1.2 ROLL CALL Present: Martinez, Huber, Calvert, and Valencia Absent: None 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS None. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Approval of ineeting minutes of the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees for the October 18, 2021 Regular Meeting. A motion was made by Trustee Valencia, seconded by Vice Chair Huber, to approve the October 18, 2021 minutes. The motion carried by the following vote: Aves: Martinez, Calvert, Valencia, and Huber Noes: None Absent: None 4. STAFF PRESENTATION Adult Services staff members Sarah Landreth and Melody Sawyer presented on marketing & social media processes. Marketing includes creating digital and print content for the Library as a whole. Including signage (inside and outside of the library) LED displays, Kiosk displays, and Social Media (Instagram and Facebook). 5. FRIENDS OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT Friends representative Christine Huard-Spencer provided the following updates: Since re-opening in April the revenue continues to increase. They continue to get new volunteers and lots of book donations. The bookstore is open Saturdays now. 6. ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT Foundation Executive Director Lynn-Marie Frediani discussed upcoming fundraising events and programs, including a new board member, Steve Freeman. The Gala is set for March 20, 2022 "Full STEAM Ahead" and will be held at the Library. All auction items are needed by end of February. 7. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT 7.1 Updates Assistant Director Amy Harpster reported on current events at the Library, including personnel updates, programs, funding and donations, extending library service hours at all locations, and implementing automatic renewals in January. They are also working on eliminating fines in the new year. 7.2 Financial Report Financial Report: October 2021 The LBOT Financial Report was Received and filed. 8. BOARD REPORTS 8.1 Reports from Chair Chair Martinez met with Dr. Kosher at Chapman University who runs the Thompson Institute for disabilities. They donated a signed book to the Library by Megan Bomgaars, Born to Sparkle. Chair Martinez will be contacting the Orange Unified School District to discuss meeting at the Library. 8.2 Reports from Trustees None. 9. OLD BUSINESS None. 10. NEW BUSINESS None. 10.1 Heritage Days 12/4/2021 The Library is preparing for their first Heritage Days. 10.2 Tree Lighting 12/5/2021 The Board plans to attend this event as guests. They will not be participating in the Pop-Up-Library. 11. ADJOURNMENT Meeting adjourned at 5:04 p.m. The December 20, 2021 meeting is cancelled, the next Regular Meeting ,is Monday, January 24, 2022, at 3:30 p.m. at the EI Modena Branch Library.
