August 16, 2021
1. OPENING
1.1 CALL TO ORDER
Chair Martinez called the meeting to order at 3:31 p.m.
1.2 PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Present: Martinez, Huber, van Voorst, Freeman, and Calvert
Absent: None
2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of ineeting minutes of the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees for the
July 19, 2021 Regular Meeting.
A motion was made by Trustee Freeman, seconded by Vice Chair Huber, to approve
the July 19, 2021 Meeting Minutes as presented. The motion carried by the following
vote:
Aves: Martinez, Huber, van Voorst, Freeman, and Calvert
Noes: None
Absent: None
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS
_ None.
4. FRIENDS OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT
Friends Vice President Christine Huard-Spencer provided updates on the bookstore
and upcoming events. The Friends approved the Library's Fall Wishlist.
5. ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT
Library Director Curtis provided an update on a new fundraising event the Foundation
is considering for the fall.

6. LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
6.1 Updates
Library Director Curtis welcomed Council Member Ana Gutierrez to the Library Board
Meeting.
Director Curtis reported on current events at the Library including programs, funding
and donations, going fine-free, and personnel updates. Taft Branch re-opened today. �
Both branches are open 10am-5pm Monday-Friday. They are working on logistics to
get Main Library open in evenings.
Joseph Valencia was appointed to the Library Board at the 8/10/2021 council meeting.
The Board thanked Trustee van Voorst for her 12 years of service.
Discussion ensued regarding volunteers. Director Curtis will bring the Volunteer
Coordinator to an upcoming meeting to provide an update.
6.2 Financial Report
Financial Report for July 2021.
The Financial Report is at end of year and the Library is on track.

7. BOARD REPORTS
7.1 Reports from Chair Martinez
Chair Martinez discussed working with Pop-Up Library staff and how professional and
friendly they are.
7.2 Reports from Trustees
Discussion took place regarding Lunch at the Library, Ukulele Soup and the Farmer's
Market/Seed Library.
8. OLD BUSINESS
8.1 National Night Out recap
Discussion took place regarding pros & cons of the new location (Grijalva Park) and
how it could be improved next year.
9. NEW BUSINESS
9.1 New Policy: Mobile Hotspots
A motion was made by Trustee Freeman, seconded by Vice Chair Huber, to approve
the Mobile Hotspots policy as presented. The motion carried by the following vote:

10. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 4:57 p.m.
The next Regular Library Board of Trustees meeting will be held on Monday,
September 20, 2021, at 3:30 p.m., in the Rotary Room at the Orange Public Library &
History Center.
