Chair Freeman called the meeting to order at 3:31 p.m.

2.APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of meeting minutes of the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees for the
May 17, 2021 Regular Meeting.
Amended Item 7.2, second paragraph, to change the word "class" to "program."
A motion was made by Trustee Martinez, seconded by Trustee Calvert, to approve the
Minutes as amended. The motion carried by the following vote:

3.PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
4.FRIENDS OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY REPORT
Friends President Kathleen Stevens discussed updates to their Board, the bookstore,
operating hours, upcoming events, and book sale profits.
5.ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION REPORT
Foundation Executive Director Lynn -Marie Frediani discussed upcoming fundraising
events and programs. Providing the Library with a $21,000 check for the purchase of
Laptops.

6.LIBRARY DIRECTOR'S REPORT
6.1 Updates
Library Director Curtis welcomed Council Member Jon Dumitru to the Library Board of
Trustees Meeting. Director Curtis reported on current events at the Library, including
programs, funding and donations, personnel updates, new equipment purchases and
branch updates. Discussion took place regarding the Library going fine free.
6.2 Financial Report
Financial Report July 2020 through June 2021

7.BOARD REPORTS
7.1 Reports from Chair Freeman
Announced that he was appointed to serve on the Parks & Events Commission. He will
remain on with the Library Board until this takes place.
7.2 Reports from Trustees
None.
8.OLD BUSINESS

9.NEW BUSINESS
9.1 Update Policy: Children’s Courtyard / Tannas Family Children’s Garden
Change bullet #4 in draft to be consistent with first paragraph using the word
"caregiver" in place of "parent/gaurdian."
A motion was made by Trustee Freeman, seconded by Trustee Calvert to approve as
amended. The motion carried by the following vote:

Nomination for Chair
A motion was made by Trustee Freeman, seconded by Trustee Huber nominating

Trustee Huber as Library Board Vice Chair. The motion carried by the following vote:

10.1 Fiscal Year 21/22 Meeting Schedule
Received & filed.
10.2 Library Board Mission Statement: Ongoing Actions & Activities for FY 21/22.
Change to reflect new fiscal year 21/22. Change #5 to read: "Extend the scope and
reach of the Library, beyond its traditional collection and facilities, by developing
alliances with local businesses and civic groups."
A motion was made by Trustee Martinez, seconded by Trustee van Voorst to approve
the Mission Statement with updates as discussed. The motion carried by the following
