The board met for an administrative session beginning at 4:30 P.M. The meeting adjourned at
approximately 5:45 P.M.
Regular Session - 5:00 P.M.
Steven Prothero opened the meeting. Review and approval of the August 6, 1997 minutes were
defei7-ed to the September 3, 1997 meeting.

The project was presented by John Schmitz -All American Sigu Service. The existing shopping
center is currently undergoing facade renovation that was approved by the DRB back in June 4,
1997. The proposed new sign program would compliment the new building design.
The DRB expressed the following concerns: Square Footage -Two square feet per lineal foot of
building store frontage is being proposed. This does not comply with City code which requires
maximum one to one ratio. A variance would be required in order to exceed this limitation.
Sign Length -The maximum sign length up to 75% of the store frontage is being proposed.
Although not required by code, the DRB has consistently allowed only up to 60 % of store
fi-ontage in their past approvals. At 75`%, the wall signs becomes cluttered. Raceways -The
signs are proposed to be mounted on a raceway. Although not required by code, the DRB has
consistently prohibit the use of raceways in their past approvals.
MOTION by Steve Prothero to approve the project subject to the following conditions:
1. The maximum wall sign area shall be limited to one square feet per lineal foot of building
store frontage.
2. The maximum sign length shall be limited to 75% of the building store frontage.
3. No raceway allowed. Wall sign shall be individually mounted on building store frontage.
4. If "can" signs are to be used, the applicant shall submit a revised sign program to the DRB
for approval. (Can signs must have opaque backgrounds)
