The regular meeting of the Orange F'ublic Libr�ry E�oard c�f
Trustees was called to order at 4:'= p.m. by Chairman Tom
Saen� in the office of Library Dire�tor, f�;aren Leo, I��in

Trustee �orham moved that the minutes of the June 18, 199��
meeting be approved as presented. Secanded by Tr��stee Courtney.
IIT. Legislative lJpdate
Directar Leo reported to Trustees that there still was n� budget
from the St�te Governor-. She also thank:ed Main Libr�ry Manager
f�:erry Stern for alerting library advocates of the Governor's
�rroposed b�idc�et c�its during Qirector- 's vacation.
V. Old �usiness
A. M�in Library Hispanic Teens Frogram
Main Library Manager k;erry Stern repor-ted to Trustees on
developments regarding the relocation of the Friendly 5top.
The City Manager has given verbal approval to seek: re-
- locatic�n costs from the Orange Redevelopment Agency.
Appro:;imately �iB,����C� - �t��,G���� will be sought. Stern
has t�een e:;ploring the fea�ibility of leasing a mobile
trailer uni{:, with �n option tc� t�uy.

There were no puhlic presentations.
VIII. Announcements
A. ALA Annual Conference
Director Leo repnrted to Trustees the events of the recent
ALA Conference in Chicago. She felt it was one of the best
confer-ences she had attended. Joan E�lumenstein, Main
Library Childrens' Services 5ection, and Angela Scherer-
Holt, Main Library Circulation Section, also �ttended.
E�. Friends
Dire�tnr Leo advised of a Friends' boak:sale to be held on
July i8 at Main L.ibrary.
Dire�tor Leo also updated Trustees on Friends' interest in
helping the Library prvvide a literacy program for the
Or-ange community and th�t a meeting had been held to di5cuss
this matter.
C. Other
Trustee Courtney requested the Bo�r-d's Consideration of the
appointment of a -Fund secret�ry WF1D would ov�rsee proper
protocol for Bo�rd of Trustees' social obligations.
Discussian ensued about the e:;isting funds held by the
Administrative Secretary �nd the need for a determina-
tion on which social Qhligation� Trustees desir-e action.
Bo�rd members agreed to mak:e this an item for the ne:;t
meeting 's agenda.
It was moved by Chairman Tom Saen� that the meeting be adjourned at
5: 17 p.m. The gro��p adjourned to a potluck: dinner at Nancy Way's home.
