A RESOLUTION Of' THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE HONORING KATHLEEN
KAY" MASSA FOR SIX YEARS OF DEDICATED
SERVICE ON THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES.
WHEREAS, Kathleen "Kay" Massa has served for the past six years (1995-
2001) as a devoted and hard-working member of the Orange Public Library Board
of Trustees;
and WHEREAS, Kay has provided enthusiastic and committed service during
those six years, including two distinguished terms as Chairperson of the Library Board;
and WHEREAS, under Kay's leadership the Orange Public Library recovered
from the severe recession cutbacks of the mid-1990s. In particular, during her tenure,
the Main Library was completely remodeled, plans to renovate the branch libraries were
put into place, property across from the Main Library on Center Street was acquired
for the purpose of expansion, library staffing was increased, library hours
were extended,information and technology centers with access to electronic databases and
the Internet were established, the library's lntemet website was created (including access
to the library's online catalog), the City of Orange Public Library Foundation was
formed, and numerous additional library activitie:s and programs were
instituted; and WHEREAS, Kay has devoted untold hours to Orange and its citizens
through her service as a Library
Trustee; and WHEREAS, the City of Onmge and its residents owe Kay a debt
of gratitude;NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, I, Mark Murphy, Mayor of
the City of Orange, commend Kathleen Massa for six years of dedicated service as a
member of the Orange Public Library Board
of Trustees.ADOPTED this
