Trustee McEwan corrected Page 2, "Friendly Stop Update," line 11, "Supervisor
Bill Stein" was corrected to "Supervisor Bill Steiner." Trustee Way moved that
the minutes of July 12, 1993 be accepted as coaected. Seconded by Trustee
Brandman. Morion carried.

D'uecco s Report for June 1993 was accepted as presented.

The Director's Report for July 1993 was not ready for distribution at the meetu g.
It will be mailed to Tiustees. Gary Waan commented that the Director's Report is
a large amount of work for staff to compile. With staff reductions, the production
of this report is becoming cumbersome.
Y. Unfinished Business
A. .Ioint Use Library with Rancho Santiago College
Trustees continuously favored withdrawal&om the joint h'brary use project with
Rancho Santiago College because of their primary desire to provide the City with a
New Main Library. Dean Stringer of RSC addressed the City Council at their
meeting on August 10 and proposed that thia project be delayed 3-5 years because
of budgetary reductions at the City and State level. Architectural planning on this
project will stop immediately. Tmstee Brandman requested to go on record as
fully supporting the joirn Gbrary project with Rancho Santiago College. Trustee
McEwan expressed support for a New Main Library and Trustee Brandman agreed
that a New Main Library would be primary before a joint library.

B. Friendly Stop Update
Gary Wann informed Trustees that Anthony Garcia is no longer employed as
Friendly Stop Supervisor. A professional r niitraent by the Personnel
Depaztment hsa begun for a Friendly Stop Supervisor and Friendly Stop Assistant,
each position being 19 hours per week. Tlu Friendly Stop project will continue
through the Sscat year, but in FY 93/94, the project will be designatcd SO1C, a
non-profit orgaoization, and t6e City will no longer have jurisdiction but there
will be a mutual tie of cooperation.
C Budgd FY 93/4
Police and Fire departments are negotiating wiW City Council for labor contracta
for FY 93/94. After a settlement is reached, a City budget will be adopted.
D. Santiago Hil/s Branch Libsary Qosing Update
Staff are working on removal of the books from the shelves and distribution to
Main Library and the branches. Audiovisuai material has bxn sent W Technical
Services for recataloging and distribution. A letter was sent to the owner of the
atore&ont where the branch was located to see if a rebate on rent will be possible.
Complete vacancy will be accomplished by the end of September.
E DRA Parchase of INLEX Update
Eugenia reported that on August 5,Data Research Associates(DRA)has
purchased INLEX. The Monterey, California office of INLEX will be closed, and
DRA will operate&om a St. Louis,ivfissouri office.
F. Election of O cers
After reappointment of Tiustee Brandman by City Council on August 10, Trustee
Way moved that Ttustce Brandman be appointed vice-Chairperson. Seconded by
Tivstee McEwan. Motion cazried.
