RES-9406 Commending Public Works Staff for Prospect St. Community Park Remediation ProjectRESOLUTION NO. 9406 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE COMMENDING PUBLIC WORKS STAFF MEMBERS FOR EXTRAORDINARY EFFORT ON THE PROSPECT STREET COMMUNITY PARK REMEDIATION PROJECT. WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Orange City Council to provide park facilities to meet the needs of the citizens of Orange. WHEREAS, the City Council encourages staff to look for innovative ways to acquire and construct needed park facilities in the most cost effective way possible. WHEREAS, the City has acquired the former quarry site on the northwest corner of Prospect and Spring street for a future community park. WHEREAS, the newly acquired site has been subject to uncontrolled dumping over the years and requires significant stabilization prior to being used as a park site. WHEREAS, under Council direction, City Public Works has initiated a contract for $1.9 Million dollars to stabilize the park site. WHEREAS, City Public Works has diligently overseen the stabilization project to completion and as a result of this oversight has reduced costs of the project to $1.23 Million, resulting in a $570,000 savings to the City General Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, the Orange City Council wishes to commend Frank Sun, Jerry Bailey, Majid Farhat, George Liang and Dick Barnes for their extraordinary oversight and innovation in reducing costs on the remediation project at the park site located at Prospect and Spring Streets and saving $570,000 of City funds.
