A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE AUTHORIZING THE
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF GLASSELL STREET
FROM ALMOND AVE. TO PALM AVE., CHAPMAN
AVE. FROM GRAND ST. TO OLIVE ST., ORANGE
ST. FROM CHAPMAN AVE. TO WASHINGTON
AVE., ORANGE ST. FROM CHAPMAN AVE. TO
MAPLE AVE., OLIVE ST. FROM MAPLE AVE. TO
ALMOND AVE., MAPLE AVE. FROM OLIVE ST.
TO ORANGE ST. AND REMOVING ON-
STREET PARKING AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS
WITHIN THE AREA FOR FILMING OF A MAJOR
STUDIO MOVIE IN JANUARY-
FEBRUARY, 2001.WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 2110 1 (e) authorizes cities to close portions of
streets for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the
closing is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street
during the temporary
closing; and WHEREAS, Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon has requested a temporary street
closure and removal of on-street parking to accommodate their filming schedule on Glassell
Street from Almond Ave. to Palm Ave., Chapman Ave. from Grand St. to Olive St., Orange St. from
Chapman Ave. to Washington Ave., Orange St. from Chapman Ave. to Maple Ave., Olive St. from
Maple Ave. to Almond Ave., Maple Ave. from Olive St. to Orange St. and within the historic Plaza
area on January 27-28th, and February 5_
8th, and 15th, 2001.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City
of Orange
as follows:Section I:That the above mentioned streets be closed asscheduled
by Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon on January 27-28th, andFebruary 5_8th, and l5t", 2001. That should
dates of the filming schedule change the Public Works DirectorlCity Engineer shall be authorized
to modify the street closure dates
to accommodate the filming schedule.That on-street parking shall be temporarily removed
within the
film sites as necessary.Section 11:That before said closure shalloccur,
the event sponsor, Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary
for the closure acceptable to the City including
thePolice
Section III:
The event sponsor, Paramount PictureslNickelodeon shall notify area residents and
businesses of the temporary street closure and removal of on-street parking in accordance with
the Police Department's directions.
