She reported that the budget cycle for FY2010-11 will start December 1st. The first report on the year- end closures will be going to the October 27 City Council meeting, which will give them a picture on how we close the year and what the picture will look like for next year. NEW BUSINESS 5.1 Introduction of new Library Board of Trustees Library Director Moreno announced the appointment of two new Library Board of Trustees – Marianne Hugo from Anaheim Public Library and a resident of the City of Orange; and Patricia VanVoorst, former City of Orange employee and resident of the City of Orange. Trustee Patricia VanVoorst was unable to make this meeting because of a prior commitment. Everyone welcomed Trustee Hugo who was presented with a bag of library gifts. Each Trustee and staff member were asked to share information with Trustee Hugo about themselves, how long they have been on the Board or with the city, what they have contributed, how the library has changed since they have been on the Board or with the city, and any other additional information they wish to share. Trustee Hugo then shared her information with the Board and staff – she is a native Californian, she has lived in East Orange for nine years, is a strong advocate for libraries. She has worked in both Academic and Public libraries most of her career, ending up at Anaheim Public Library as a Branch Manager at the Haskett Branch Library. She added that the reason she wanted to join the Orange Public Library Board of Trustees is to learn more about the library community. Library Director Moreno mentioned that the role of the Library Board of Trustees is an Advisory Board where library policies are brought forth for review and adoption.
