Meeting Minutes

I. CALL TO ORDER (3:05 pm)

II. ALTERNATIVES FOR EXPANSION OF LIBRARY HOURS
This Special meeting was called to present the Library Board of Trustees with the second draft
of the proposed New Library Delivery Service Model and the 10 Year Accomplishments report.
In addition, a PowerPoint slide show was presented, which provided an overview of the
Library’s accomplishments over the past ten years, alternatives for expanding hours, and the
Library’s proposed New Library Delivery Service Model. This PowerPoint slide show will be
presented to the City Council at their May 22nd meeting.
Deputy City Manager Irma Hernandez narrated the PowerPoint slide show explaining each
slide to the Board. The slide show addressed Councilman Whitaker’s request from the
December 13th Council meeting to bring forth alternatives for expanding library hours within
the existing budget. Highlights representing ten years of library accomplishments were
presented as well as the four alternatives. After the presentation, Ms. Hernandez asked for
comments and questions:
The Board of Trustees commented that the slideshow and revised reports are exactly what they
wanted and is what the City Council asked for; they also agreed the presentation was very good.
Matt Cunningham (representing LSSI) asked that we change the word “privatization” to
“outsourcing” as he felt the word privatization was misleading.
The Board thanked staff for their hard work on this report.
