RES-9589 Loyal Service Appreciation for Robert D. BradleyRESOLUTION NO. 9589 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO ROBERT D. BRADLEY OF THE CITY OF ORANGE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMEND HIM FOR MORE THAN THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.WHEREAS, Robert D. Bradley began his career with the City of Orange Fire Department on March 12, 1962 and was promoted to Fire Engineer on August I, 1965; and WHEREAS, during his thirty-eight year tenure with the Orange Fire Department,Bob was known for his attention to detail and being a stickler for punctuality in addition to his sense of humor.WHEREAS, Bob was known to be very helpful and always willing to share his knowledge with others, especially new firefighters and engineers; and WHEREAS, Bob picked up the computer late in his career but now uses it to keep all of the retirees in touch with the Department and each other, he was also known as the unofficial department historian.WHEREAS, Bob was an avid cyclist in his early days and received a City Council Resolution for his brilliant success in the Firemen's Olympics that said,WHEREAS, competing against 30 opponents, Bradley won two gold medals in the sprints and the 25 mile criterium, two silver medals in the eight mile time trial and the one mile hill climb, the second place cycling team trophy (by himself), and a gold medal for "The Most Outstanding Single Athlete in the Cycling Event," by placing first overall in total points."WHEREAS, Bob is probably best known, however, for his tremendous sense of devotion and loyalty to his family and to the City of Orange.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, I, Mark A. Murphy, Mayor of the City of Orange, on behalf of the entire City Council recognize and congratulate Robert D.Bradley for his thirty-eight years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange and that the City Council on behalf of all the citizens of Orange wish Bob and his wife Sherry a long, happy and healthy retirement.ADOPTED this 23rd day Mar~~J;y~~ r ftheCityofOrange ATTEST: l Cassandra J.
