A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO LAWRENCE BOYD, JR. OF THE CITY OF
ORANGE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMEND
HIM FOR MORE THAN THIRTY YEARS OF
LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Lawrence Boyd, Jr. began his career as a fireman with the City of
Orange Fire Department on May 24, 1971; and
WHEREAS, Larry worked as a fireman for eleven years until he was promoted
to Fire Engineer in October, 1982, eleven years later he was promoted to Fire Captain;
and
WHEREAS, during his time with the Orange Fire Department, Larry was
recognized for his work on a Disaster Handbook for the disabled, handicapped and
elderly, he was also lauded for his assistance in the making of a training video on Critical
Incident Stress Debriefing and for his work on the OFD Safety Committee; and
WHEREAS, always the fireman, Larry was also recognized by the City of
Huntington Beach for not only putting out a garage fire, but for suspecting suspicious
circlmlstances and for staying there and securing the scene until firefighters arrived.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, I, Mark A. Murphy, Mayor of the
City of Orange, on behalf of the entire City Council, recognize and congratulate
Lawrence Boyd, Jr. for his thirty years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of
Orange and that the City Council on behalf of all the citizens of Orange wish him and his
wife Louise a long, happy, and healthy retirement.
