A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO STEPHEN J. PHILLIPS OF THE CITY OF
ORANGE FIRE DEJ'ARTMENT AND
COMMENDING HIM FOR MORE THAN THIRTY
YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, after a brief time with the U.S Army and the U.S. Forest Service,
Steve Phillips joined the Orange Fire Department on June 21, 1971 as a fireman; and
WHEREAS, Steve was promoted to Fire Engineer on September 2, 1983, he
serv(,d in this capacity until his retirement on January 3, 2002; and
WHEREAS, Steve has participated with UCIMC and the Egyptian Ministry of
Health in the "Adopt-A-Doc" program. He was one of the Orange Fire
Department's personnel who responded to the 1992 civil disturbances in Los Angeles.
He received numerous commendations for his participation in these
events; and WHEREAS, Steve also enjoys sharing his knowledge with others and
has served as a CPR instructor, an ROP Instructor and he is an Associate Instructor at
the Regional Fire Academy. He continues to teach in his
retirement; and WHEREAS, he has always been known as a person who gets along well
with his coworkers, is a team player and participates in all
activities; and WHEREAS, Steve's supervisors state that he is a good planner and
organizer and he is always dependable - someone you can count on. These are just some of the
reasons Steve: is
missed.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Orange that Stephen J. Phillips be recognized and congratulated for his loyal
and dedicated service to the City of Orange for more than thirty years and that the
City Council, on behalf of the citizens of Orange, wishes Steve and his wife Gail, a
long,happy, and healthy
