A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL 01<' THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO MELVIN R. PERREIRA OF THE PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT, WATER DIVISION, AND
COMMENDING HIM FOR OVER THIRTY-
SIX YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED
SERVICE WHEREAS, on December 19, 1966, Melvin R. Perreira was hired as
a Maintenance Man I in the Water Division of the Public Works Department. and
was subsequently promoted to Equipment Operator n and promoted to Supervisor in 1983,
a position he has held for the last 20 years;
and WHEREAS, he very capably performed his job and directed the activities of
his construction and maintenance crew during the installation and repair of numerous
water service connections, valves, hydrants, and water mains during this time;
and WHEREAS, his work on the water system helped assure the health. safety,
and welfare of the citizens of this community;
and WHEREAS, Mel has announced his decision to retire from servicev'lith the
City of Orange as of July 12, 2003. His long career with the Water Division of the
Public Works Department has been significant and deserves special recognition
and
commendation.NOW, THEREFORE, HE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City
of Orange. expresses sincere appreciation and congratulations to Melvin R. Perreira
and commends him for his more than 36 years of loyal and dedicated service to the City
of Orange, and on behalf of the citizens of Orange, wishes Mel a most happy and
fulfilling
retirement.ADOPTED this 24th day of June,
