RES-9736 Loyal Service Appreciation For Brance SkipperRESOLUTION NO. 9736 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO CORPORAL BRANCE SKIPPER OF THE ORANGE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR THIRTY-FOUR YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE WHEREAS, Brance Skipper began his caree:r with the Orange Police Department in 1969. Prior to his law enforcement career, Corporal Skipper served his country in the United States Air Force and United States Marine Corps. Within these four years, he completed two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was twice wounded before obtaining the rank of Sergeant and receiving an honorable discharge. He then graduated from the Orange County Sheriffs Law Enforcement Academy and served as an Orange County Deputy Sheriff prior to beginning his employment with the City of Orange Police Department.WHEREAS, during his tenure, Corporal Skipper held a number of assignments including patrol officer, field training officer, crime scene investigation (CST) officer,juvenile crimes detective, armorer, Corporal and was last assigned to the elite Orange County Auto Theft Task Force.WHEREAS, Corporal Skipper has been a member of the Orange Police Department's Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) for over 20 years, where he was commended for his dedication in training others.WHEREAS, Corporal Skipper will be retiring from the Orange Police Department after thirty-five years of dedicated service and will be remembered as one of the finest public servants.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, I, Mark A. Murphy, Mayor ofthe City of Orange, on behalf of the entire City Council, commend Corporal Brance Skipper on his loyal and dedicated service to the Orange Police Department and to the citizens of Orange and wish him a long and happy retirement.ADOPTED this 27th day of May, 2003.M.r. 1t~h: M,y",City 0 ATTEST: Cassandra J.
