RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
DOUG MOCHIZUKI OF THE CITY OF ORANGE
FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING
HIM FOR THIRTY YEARS OF LOYAL
AND DEDICATED SERVICE.WHEREAS,
Doug Mochizuki began his career as a Fireman with the Orange Fire
Department in February 1973, was promoted to Fire Engineer in February 1977 and to
Fire Captain in September of 1979. He becarne a Battalion Chief in 1991, and was appointed
Division Chiefi'FireMarshall from July, 1996 until July, 1998; and WHEREAS,
Doug was the recipient of the combined Rotary Clubs Award of Merit
in 1984, the Community Service Award in 1984 and 1989, and the Award of Valor in
1999. He also received the Overachievers Award from the Orange County Fire Chief'
s Association in 1991; and WHEREAS,
Doug responded as a Squad Leader to the Oklahoma City Bombing as
a part of the Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 5, was the Disaster Coordinator for the
City of Orange and received an appointment to the Governor's Seismic Safety Commission;
and WHEREAS,
Doug served on the Orange City Firefighters Board for over ten years
achieving the position of President; and WHEREAS,
Doug is an avid lifetime surfer, has reached his long board years.NOW
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange
that Doug Mochizuki be recognized and congratulated for his thirty years of loyal and
dedicated service to the City of Orange and that the City Council on behalf of all the citizens
of Orange wish Doug and his wife Debbie a long, happy, and healthy retirement.ADOPTED
