A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO JOHN JORDAN OF THE CITY OF ORANGE
FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM
FOR MORE THAN TWENTY-FOUR YEARS
OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED
SERVICE.WHEREAS, John Jordan an Army Reserve member for six years, began
his career as a Fireman at the City of La Habra where he becarne a Paramedic Assistant,
one of only two in the County of Orange. On January 23, 1978, he joined the Orange
Fire Department. He became aFireman/Paramedic on September 9, 1979 and was
promoted to Fire Captain in June 1991, was aCaptain/Paramedic;
and WHEREAS, Captain Jordan served as Paramedic Coordinator
providing leadership and representing the Orange Fire Department at regional meetings of
the Paramedic Coordinators Association. He served on the Equipment Committee and
was instmmental in moving the pararnedics from vans to trucks;
and WHEREAS, in 1990 he was nominated for the Overachiever Award given by
the Orange County Fire Chiefs Association and in 1999 he received the Rotary Club's
Award of Valor for actions taken in the resuscitation ofan eleven-year-
old boy; and WHEREAS, John served as a board member of the
Orange City Firefighters Local 2384 for five years and was Treasurer for over
ten years; and WHEREAS, John was a valued Firefighter for thirty-one
years, thirty of those years as a Pararnedic. John served the citizens of Orange for
twenty-four years
and
will surely be missed.NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Orange that John Jordan be recognized and congratulated for
his twenty-four years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange and that the
City Council on behalf of all the citizens of Orange wish John and his wife Rhona
a long,
happy, and healthy retif(~ment.ADOPTED this
