RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO
MIKE CHENIER OF THE CITY OF ORANGE FIRE
DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR
THIRTY-ONE YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Mike Chenier began his career with the City of Orange Fire
Department on May 24, 1971. He was promoted to Fire Engineer on January 1, 1974;
and
WHEREAS, Mike was always known as a perfectionist and one who was willing
to chip in to do more than his fair share and to do it well. He was multi-talented and
used his many skills to work on construction projects at the stations. He helped build
the dOffilS at Station 4, turnout lockers at Station 5, the deck at temporary Station
7 temporary for ten years), and the deck at temporary Station 8. He also had a talent
for sewing and made straps and equipment bags for department use;
and WHEREAS, he set new high standards for the retirement committee and built
the beautiful badge boxes presented to retirees;
and WHEREAS, Mike having always been known as a quiet, easy-
going individual,makes it difficult to believe that he introduced wrestling to the OFD long
beforeit becaJ'lle a popular entertainment, and it should be mentioned that he rarely lost
a
match;and WHEREAS, Mike was a valued member of the Fire Department. With
his good nature and great sense of humor, Mike was well liked, well respected and well
teased by all and will truly
be missed.NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Orange that Mike Chenier be recognized and congratulated for his thirty-
one years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange and that the City Council
on behalf of all the citizens of Orange wish Mike and his wife Linda a long,
happy,
and
healthy retiwment.ADOPTED this 25th day of
March, 2003.
