RES-9898 Loyal Service Appreciation For Reymundo MontoyaRESOLUTION NO. 9898 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO REYMUNDO MONTOYA OF THE CITY OF ORANGE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR THIRTY YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE. WHEREAS, Reymundo Montoya joined the Orange Fire Department on October 7, 1974, after spending two years in the United States Army and working construction for a brief time; and WHEREAS, Rey worked as a firefighter until July 1978 when he became a Firefighter/Paramedic. He held this position until May 1981 when he was promoted to Fire Suppression Captain. In September 1983 he was assigned as Deputy Fire Marshal. He was promoted to Battalion Chief/Training Director in August 1987. As a Battalion Chief he worked Suppression and held the special assignment of Division Chief- Operations; and WHEREAS, Rey has always been known for his ability to maintain positive, effective relationships with City and department employees, other government officials, employee organizations, and the public. He was especially effective at working with community groups such as American Heart Association, CHOC, Unity in the Community, and the Orange Sister Cities organization. He is Past President of the Orange Chapter of the National Management Association and he holds a seat on the Board of the Friendly Center; and WHEREAS, Chief Montoya was very involved in putting together the ambulance transportation program and paramedic subscription program; and WHEREAS, Rey's demeanor and professionalism have been an asset to both the Fire Department and the City of Orange; and WHEREAS, despite his caring nature, his favorite statement is "Lets club those baby seals". n_____.________._ _________________.________...___ ._. m_______ NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange that Reymundo Montoya be recognized and congratulated for his loyal and dedicated service to the citizens of Orange for thirty years and that the City Council wishes Rey and his wife Judy a long, happy and healthy retirement.
