2. Library Director’s Report
2.1. Library Updates
2.1.1 Presentation by Ryan Gan of Taft Branch Library – Ryan gave a presentation on Taft Branch Library and the services they
offer.
2.1.2 The Library is looking into getting iPads for the Literacy Program.
2.1.3 An ADHOC committee is working on creating a new donation process.
2.1.4 JoAnne Chen has been promoted to Librarian I. A full-time Library Assistant will be selected from the current list on file at
HR.
2.1.5 The City Clerk has received 7 applications for the Library Board’s open seat.
2.2. Financial Report – Library is doing great, right on track.
3. Board Reports
3.1. Report from Orange Public Library Foundation (reported by Freeman)
3.1.1 45 people attended the IRIS film documentary.
3.1.2 Strategic Planning retreat will be held 3/8 & 10.
3.1.3 Gala planning is ongoing.
3.2. Report from Friends of the Library Liaison (reported by Hitchcock)
3.2.1 Friend’s is looking into selling earbuds & USB sticks.
3.2.2 Internet profits for January, $754.
3.2.3 80 free book coupons redeemed: 79 from Friends, and 1 membership.
3.3. Report from Chair Freeman
3.3.1. Trustee Martinez set up a training with OUSD for logging into and using their interface, it’s set for March 1, 2018 and 2
Library staff members will attend. OUSD will plan to send their sample copies of school books to the Library.
3.3.2. Serving with a Purpose is May 2, 2018.
3.3.3. Former Trustee Nancy Collins has accepted the invite to attend the March 19th Library Board meeting so that the Board can
personally thank her for her service.
