RES-9829 Temporary Public Street Closure for Approved Special EventsRESOLUTION NO. 9829 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARIL Y CLOSING SECTIONS OF PUBLIC STREETS FOR APPROVED SPECIAL EVENTS. VHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 2ll0l(e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during the temporary closing; and VHEREAS, the Orange Chamber of Commerce, the International Street Fair Commit1cee, the Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise, the Onmge County Mustang Club, Motorsport Industri~:s, Chapman University and St. John's Luthenm Church have requested a temporary street closing to accommodate several special events in the streets. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange as follows: AUTO SHOW - ROTARY CLUB OF ORANGE SUNRISE Section !: That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street easterly to Grand Street; and Glassell Street from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue on Sunday- Aprill8, 2004,from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.Section II:That before said closure shall occur; the Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Poliee and Public Works Departments.Section III:The Rotary Club of Orange Sunrise shall notify area residents and businesses of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions.CAR SHOW - MOTORSPORT INDUSTRIES. INC.Section !:That Collins Avenue be closed from Main Street to Batavia Street on Sunday-April 25, 2004, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.1 Section H: That before said closure shall occur; Motorsport Industries shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments. Section HI: The Motorsport Industries shall notify area residents and businesses of the event and tempoTCllY street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions. COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES - CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY Section 1:That University Avenue be closed from Glassell Street to its easterly terminus on Saturday and Sunday -May 22 & 23, 2004 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.Section II:That before said closure shall occur; Chapman University shall provide all signing,barricad, es and traffic control necessary for the closun:: acceptableto the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments.Section III:The Chapman University shall notify area residents and businesses of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions.INTERNATIONAL STREET FAIR- INTERNATIONAL STREET FAIR COMMITTEE Section I:That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street easterly to Grand Street; and Glassell Street from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue from 9:00 p.m. Thursday -August 28, 2003, through 8:00 a.m. Monday- Sept€::mber 1,2003.Section II: That before said closure shall occur; the International Street Fair Committee shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City,including the Police and Public Works Departments.Section III: The International Street Fair Committee shall notify area residents and businesses of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions.2- FALL I~ESTIVAL - SAINT JOHN'S LUTHI:RAN CHURCH Section !: That Shaffer Street be closed from Moreland Drive to Almond A venue, and Center Street from Chapman Avenue to Almond Avenue, from 6:00 p.m. Thursday - October 21, 2004,through 12: 00 midnight Saturday - October 23, 2004.Section II:That before said closure shall occur; St. JOhrl'S Lutheran Church shall provide all signing,barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments.Section III:St. John's Lutheran Church shall notify area residents and businesses of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions.TREATS IN THE STREETS - CITY OF ORANGE -- COMMUNITY SERVICES Section !:That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street easterly to Grand Street;and Glassell Street from Almond Avenue northerly to Maple Avenue on Thursday-October 28, 2004, from 2: 00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.Section II:That before said closure shall occur; the City of Orange Community Services Department shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, induding the Police and Public Works Departments.Section III:The City of Orange Community Services Department shall notify area residents and businesses of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions,FREEDOM IS NOT FREE DAY OF REMEMBRANCE - CITY OF ORANGE Section I:That Atchison Street from Chapman Ave. to :\1aple Avenue be closed on Sunday -November 11, 2004, from 10:00 a. m. and 5:00 p.m. for a Freedom Is Not Free day of remembrance sponsored by the City of Orange. Section II:That before said closure shall occur; the City of Orange Community Services Department shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City, induding the Police and Public Works Departments.3- Section HI: The City of Orange Community Services Department shall notify area residents and businesses of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions.
