RES-9826 Loyal Service Appreciation For Michael SurberRESOLUTION NO. 9826 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO MICHAEL SURBER OF' THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT FOR TWENTY- TWO YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE. VHEREAS, Mike Surber began his career with the City of Orange on July 13, 1981 ; When Mike began his career with the City, he had extensive experience as a plumber. His primary area of responsibility, at that time, included inspection of swimming pools, spas and mobile homes. Since those early days, Mike has contributed to the successful inspection of many major projects in the City, such as St. John's Lutheran School, The Sisters of St. Joseph's Mother House, Albertson's, Sav-On, the Rockridge tract and various structures at Chapman University.Mike shared his expertise in the restoration of older structures and was known as the "Old Towne Building Inspector" throughout the City. In keeping with the theme, one Halloween he portrayed an old western character he named "Old Mr. Stinky Boots."He was called upon countless times over the years to respond to Building Division emergencies during his off hours. He even went skydiving off a roof during an inspection without the benefit of a parachute and survived. After 22 years, Mike has decided to retire which will give him time to enjoy his vast interests. He is an avid collector of Indian and western memorabilia; he is an excellent silver, ivory and leather craftsman; and he has an extensive car collection in various stages of restoration.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange that Mike Surber be congratulated for his 22 years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of Orange.ADOPTED this loth day of February, 2004M!
