A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO LEONARD FII.NER OF 'THE DESIGN REVIEW
COMMITTEE FOR HIS FQUR YEARS OF
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Leonard Filner was appointed b City Council to the Design Re aiew
Commit:tee on July 13, 1999. He was one of four connmittee members to be appointed to the
newly rf,organized Design Review Committee.
During his four years on the committee, L onard k as provided valuable input vith the
designs of significant projects throughout the City incl di ig the new Orange Main Libr•ary, St.
John's I.utheran Church School expansion, Veteran's 1Vlemurial Fountain and Millennium Clock,
Extended Stay America Hotel, and Sisters of St. Joseph l2esidential Care Facility.
eonard was well qualified to serve on the comrriittee. He not only received his Bachelor
of Lanc'scape Architecture degree from Pennsylvania State University but also has landscape
architect licenses from the State of California and P enns.ylvania.
With his thorough knowledge of landscape design, he was able to provicie applicants with
helpful information to improve their projects as w ll as establishing a high standard of
professionalism in maintaining design standards for new c onstruction in Orange.
Leonard's knowledge, professionalism and attentio i to detail have cont:ributed greatly to
the Design Review Committee. He was especiall:y aware of the sensitive issues involving the
Old To vne District.
vOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOI,VED by the City Council of the City of Orange
that Leonard Filner be congratulated far four years of dedicated service to the Design Review
Commi tee, the Community Development Depa:rtment a:nd the City of Orange.
