A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO GEORGE L. MC KINNEY OF THE CITY OF
ORANGE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND
COMMENDING HIM FOR TWENTY FOUR YEARS
OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, George L. McKinney began his firefighting career with the City of
La Habra in 1973 where he worked as a dispatcher and fireman. He was hired by the
Orange Fire Department as a fireman on March 19, 1981. He was promoted to Fire
Engineer on October 30, 1985; and
WHEREAS, prior to becoming a fireman, George also served one year and three
months in the United States Army; and
WHEREAS, during his career, George was known for mentoring firefighters
through the engineer certification process and was always willing to share his knowledge
of pumping and operating a fire engine; and
WHEREAS, he was also known as a team player and helped with the Station 2
remodel project; and
WHEREAS, George, was known universally for having the gift of gab and as a
result he dealt very effectively with the public and his co-workers, His friends in
the Orange Fire Department will miss
him,NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City
of Orange commends George L. McKinney for his loyal and dedicated service to the City
of Orange for twenty-four years, We wish George and his wife Rebecca, a long,
happy, and
healthy retirement.ADOPTED this 1ih day of
