RESOLUTION NO. 9947
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING A
SECTION OF W ASHINGTON AVENUE BETWEEN
ESPLANADE STREET AND EARLHAM STREET
FOR A SPECIAL EVENT, FROM 10:00 A.M. THRU
1:00 P.M. ON SATURDAY, MARCH 26, 2005.
WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21100(e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets
for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing is
necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during
the temporary closing; and
WHEREAS, the City of Orange Fire Department has requested a temporary street
closure to accommodate a special event at Fire Station #4; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department has agreed to comply with the regulations governing
street closures for special events, that alcoholic beverages on public streets are a violation of the
law, the applicant will provide all signing, k-rails and traffic control necessary for the
closure acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments; City of Orange
Fire Department will also notify area residents of the event and temporary street closure
in accordance with the Police Department's directions; it is the applicants' responsibility to
clean the streets after the event, and to maintain 12 feet ofunobstmcted access for emergency
vehicles,NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Orange does resolve as
follows:That Washington Avenue from Esplanade Street and
Earlham Street, be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on
Saturday,March 26,
