A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO LORNA ADKINS OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC
LIBRARY AND COMMENDING HER FOR MORE
THAN 11 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO
THE CITY OF ORANGE.
WHEREAS, Lorna Adkins started her career with the City of Orange on October 15,
1995, as a Librarian I in the Reference section of the Orange Public (Main) Library, beginning
II years of increasingly responsible work in the Library; and
WHEREAS, Lorna was promoted to Librarian II - Site Supervisor at the Taft Branch Library
on February 27, 2000, where she has provided leadership to appreciative Taft staff and the
public for the past six years; and WHEREAS,
Lorna exemplifies public service excellence in her enthusiastic and proactive
outreach to the community in a variety of ways, including class visits and story times;and
WHEREAS,
Lorna was a vital member of the $1.2-million Taft Renovation Project
Team in 2001-2002 to modernize Orange's first branch library after more than 30 years of
its loving use by the public, her specialties being thoughtful ideas, enthusiastic input, and
incredible attention to detail;
and WHEREAS, Lorna has been an outstanding supervisor to staff members at the
Taft Branch Library, putting their welfare before her own, providing guidance and support,
and serving as a wonderful mentor to her staff;
and WHEREAS, Lorna has been an important member of the Library Workflow
Team,participating in management decisions to improve the quality of library services throughout
the City of Orange;
and WHEREAS, all City employees wish Lorna a long and happy retirement with
her husband Larry and continued enjoyment in the lives and activities of her
children.NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT, the City Council of the City
of Orange, on behalf of the citizens of the City of Orange hereby commend and congratulate
Lorna Adkins on her II years of exceptional, dedicated and loyal service to our
ADOPTED this 28th day of November, 2006.
