A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO BETH IRISH OF THE ORANGE PUBLIC
LIBRARY AND COMMENDING HER FOR MORE
THAN SIXTEEN YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF ORANGE.
WHEREAS, Beth Irish began her career with the City of Orange on January 30, 1990 as
a Librarian I in the Children's Services section of the Orange Public (Main) Library; beginning
16 years of increasingly responsible and creative work in one of the most interesting,
challenging, and complex fields of public service today - namely, information literacy; and WHEREAS,
Beth was promoted to Librarian II at the Main Library on January 24, 1993;and
then was named Site Supervisor or head of the El Modena Branch Library on May 21, 2000;and
WHEREAS,
Beth has demonstrated dedication to excellence in the performance of her duties
and leads the way in setting an example of professional and courteous customer service;and
WHEREAS, "
Miss Beth" has conducted hundreds of excellent story times for appreciative
boys and girls and has led hundreds of class tours for eager students from nearby local
schools, making a powerful positive impact on several generations of our community's children;
and WHEREAS,
Beth has been an outstanding supervisor to dozens of staff members at the EI
Modena Branch and has served as a wonderful mentor and role model to her staff; and WHEREAS,
Beth has been an important member of the Library Workflow Team,participating
in management decisions to improve the quality of library services throughout the City
of Orange; and WHEREAS,
all City employees wish Beth a long and happy retirement with her husband Al
and continued enjoyment in the lives and activities of her children and grandchildren;NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, I, Mark A. Murphy, Mayor of the City of Orange,
on behalf of the entire City Council and the citizens of the City of Orange hereby commend
and congratulate Beth Irish on her 16 years of exceptional, dedicated and loyal service to
our city.
