A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO STEPHEN SPAIN OF THE FINANCE
DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM FOR
MORE THAN SEVENTEEN YEARS OF
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Stephen began his career with the City in July of 1989 and quickly
distinguished himself as a very knowledgeable, accurate and exceptionally competent
accountant; and
WHEREAS, in 2004 Stephen was promoted to his current position of Investment &
Revenue Officer where he has prudently managed, protected and preserved the City's funds; and
WHEREAS, Stephen has fostered a sense of camaraderie among the Finance staff and
other City employees, and has brightened the life of his co-workers with his exceptional sense
of humor;
and WHEREAS, Stephen has a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and at ease;
and WHEREAS, Stephen's hallmarks are a strong work ethic and a commitment to a
quality,accurate work product;
and WHEREAS, Stephen so freely and consistently shared his many talents by assisting
his co-workers with computer problems, accounting issues, or any other
challenges; and WHEREAS, Stephen has always been dedicated to fully serving the City
of Orange,never allowing himself to be constrained by ajob
description; and WHEREAS, Stephen epitomized customer service, whether
patiently explaining financial issues or designing financial reports specifically tailored to fit another's
needs; and WHEREAS, Stephen could always be counted upon to approach his work with
a strong sense of ownership and
dedication; and WHEREAS, Stephen has always been personally committed to achieving the
very best for the City of Orange and was willing to work long hours in order to do
so; and WHEREAS, Stephen has come to love this great City just as we have come to
love and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mark A. Murphy, Mayor of the City of Orange, on behalf of the
entire City Council commend Stephen Spain for his seventeen years of outstanding, dedicated and
loyal service to the City of Orange, and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Stephen
will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his City of Orange family. God speed, Stephen!
