RES-10111 Loyal Service Appreciation for Bob GreenRESOLUTION NO. 10111 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO LIEUTENANT BOB GREEN OF THE ORANGE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND COMMENDING HIM FOR MORE THAN TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ORANGE WHEREAS, Bob Green was hired with the Orange Police Department on September 8, 1980; and WHEREAS, Bob worked as a Motor Officer, Residential Burglary Detective,Vice Detective, Corporal and was promoted to Sergeant in 1989; and WHEREAS, Bob was a member of the SERT (Special Emergency Response Team), SWAT, and CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) units; and WHEREAS, Chief Duncan wrote the following in a past evaluation that " Sgt.Green is an outstanding supervisor working a specialized unit, and directing the activities of his unit in an efficient and effective manner. He plans well in advance for routine and special occurrences. His speaking ability, coupled with his job knowledge makes him a fine representative for the City. He continually seeks new and better methods to reduce some of the problems throughout this community. He is a valuable and valued employee."; and WHEREAS, Bob was promoted to Lieutenant on December 3, 2000 and was a Watch Commander, supervised the Vice & Intelligence Unit, Gang Unit, The Block,Field Training Officers, Accident Review Board, Bike Team and was assigned as the Lieutenant in the Traffic Bureau on September 5, 2004; and WHEREAS, Bob has been described as "a conscientious manager who performs his duties in an excellent manner. He is an independent thinker and always willing to try new ideas and programs to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Orange." Bob further promotes the goal of Orange becoming the safest city in the County; and continually strives to reduce traffic related accidents caused by drunk drivers; and WHEREAS, retirement will give Bob and his wife Carolyn more time to enjoy their hobby of sand railing in the NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mark A. Murphy, Mayor of the City of Orange, on behalf of the entire Orange City Council, hereby extend sincere gratitude to Lieutenant Bob Green for his service to the citizens of the Orange community, and best wishes for a long, happy, and healthy retirement.
