A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE CREATING THE POSITION
CLASSIFICATION OF FORENSIC SERVICES
SUPERVISOR AND AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 10000 BY INCLUDING THIS CLASSIFICATION
INTO THE POLICE MANAGEMENT
MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
WHEREAS, City staff has discovered one position within the Orange Police
Department is currently classified incorrectly; and
WHEREAS, Orange Police Management staff, along with Personnel Services
Department staff, have assessed the value of this position to the Orange Police Department as
it relates to successfully solving major crimes; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires the current and future employees III this
position to be classified and compensated accordingly;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Orange authorize staff to implement the following effective retroactively to June 25,2006:
1. Reclassify position number 789 in the City's 06/07 budget/position control system
from a Forensic Specialist to a Forensic Services Supervisor;
2. Incorporate the attached specification for the new classification of Forensic Services
Supervisor into the City's existing classification plan;
3. Transfer $13,150 from the non-departmental activity to the FY 2006/07
Police Department budget, Activity Number 100-4034-411102 and
related fringe benefits accounts for all adjustments for the current
fiscal year; and 4. Amend Resolution No. 10000 (City of Orange
Police Management Association Memorandum of Understanding) to establish the classification
of Forensic Services Supervisor at the salary range of 549 ($5513 to $7070 per month)
effective June 25,2006, and include a 4.5% salary increase effective June 24, 2007
consistent with the Police Records Manager position in
that bargaining unit.ADOPTED this 25th day
of July, 2006.
