A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE AMENDING RESOLUTION NO,
9953 RELATING TO THE CLASSIFICATION,
COMPENSATION, AND TERMS OF
EMPLOYMENT FOR PART-TIME AND SEASONAL
EMPLOYEES.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Orange has previously adopted
Resolution No. 9953, a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Orange Relating to
the Classification, Compensation, and Terms of Employment for Part-Time and Seasonal
Employees of the City of Orange Effective July I, 2005 Through and Including June 30,
2007; and
WHEREAS, City staff has discovered the compensation level for the critical City
position of Police Academy Trainee is grossly underpaid compared to the marketplace;
and
WHEREAS, City staff and City Council recognize the importance of being
competitive in the marketplace when it comes to recruiting City positions; and
WHEREAS, City Personnel and Police Department staff have worked diligently to
recruit and select qualified Police Officer Recruits to sponsor in a Police Academy with
the intent of becoming successful Police Officers for Orange Police Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has consulted with the City Manager concerning the
proposed salary increases contained herein
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Orange wishes to amend Resolution No. 9953 as follows:

The Salary Range for the Police Academy Trainee Classification shall be
increased from the current $2675 per month (Salary Range 404) to the proposed
4006 per month (Salary Range 485) effective April 16, 2006.
