A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE STATING ITS INTENT TO
VACATE A PORTION OF THAT PUBLIC STREET
COMMONLY KNOWN AS OLD LEWIS,
GENERALLY LOCATED NORTH OF STATE
ROUTE 22 AND SOUTH OF METROPOLITAN
DRIVE AND ADJACENT TO LEWIS STREET,
SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING THEREON, AND
DIRECTING NOTICE THEREOF TO BE POSTED
AND PUBLISHED.
WHEREAS, the subject street easement was a portion of the former alignment of
Lewis Street near its intersection with State Route 22, but has not been used for street and
highway purposes for 30 years and has no prospective use due to the realignment of Lewis
Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Council intends to reserve and except from such vacation all
existing easements for public utility facilities line purposes and any right necessary to maintain,
operate, replace, remove or renew such public utilities or other public improvements underlying
the subj ect easement; and
VHEREAS, the vacation of the subject street easement is conducted pursuant to the
Public Streets, Highways, and Service Easements Vacation Law (Division 9, Part 3, Chapter 3
of the Streets and Highways Code, commencing at Section 8300); and
WHEREAS, a hearing for all persons interested in the proposed vacation shall be held
on April 11, 2006 at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City of Orange, 300 E. Chapman
A venue, Orange, California, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard.
NOW, THEREFORE the City Clerk is hereby directed to publish and post this
resolution of intention in the manner required by Sections 8322 and 8323 of the Streets and
Highways Code of the State of California.
