RES-10227 Loyal Service Appreciation for Philip Arthur LemkeRESOLUTION NO. 10227 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO PHILIP ARTHUR LEMKE OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT, FOR MORE THAN 36 YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ORANGE. WHEREAS, Philip A. Lemke became a full-time Park Caretaker for the City of Orange on October 26, 1971; and WHEREAS, from 1973 to 1978 Phil was promoted four times; and then in 1985, was promoted again to Maintenance Worker Lead, which remains his job classification today; and WHEREAS, during his career, Phil experienced the opening of Belmont Park,EI Camino Real Park, EI Modena Park, Fred Barrera Park, Grijalva Park at Santiago Creek, Handy Park, McPherson Athletic Facility, Olive Park, Pitcher Park and Santiago Hills Park. He helped maintain these parks for the enjoyment of the community and was the chief caretaker of Eisenhower Park for 4 years; and WHEREAS, Phil has always strived to make our City park system excel in appearance and healthy environment, and ensured safety first for all of our community at the parks; and WHEREAS, Phil has consistently been described by his supervisors as someone who is "very cooperative," "demonstrates good judgment," and "accepts job responsibilities willingly when assigned." His attitude and work output has continued to be exceptional during his tenure with the City of Orange; and WHEREAS, all City employees wish Phil a long and happy retirement with his wife Patti and continued enjoyment in the lives and activities of his children Patrick,Blake and Heather; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Mayor and the City Council hereby commend and congratulate Philip Arthur Lemke for his exceptional service in the Community Services Department and express to him the gratitude of the citizens of Orange and the City Council for his dedicated service to our ADOPTED this 23rd day of October, 2007.
