A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO JANICE MARCHAN AND COMMENDING HER
FOR OVER 20 YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF
ORANGE.
WHEREAS, Janice began her career with the City of Orange in 1986. After just
three years, she could no longer take the quiet halls of the Orange Public Library and
transferred to the City Clerk's Office, where she has been employed ever since; and
WHEREAS, Janice is a true member of the City Clerk "family", having worked for
three City Clerks in over 18 years. She has seen many changes in the office - most notably,the
change from paper to electronic records storage; and WHEREAS,
Janice has always been one of the first in the office to respond to the public
counter and telephone; and is known for being very calm and friendly with the public they
loveher Trinidadian accent! and WHEREAS, Janice
also obtained her Notary certificate and has assisted the City in notarizing hundreds
of city documents over the years; and WHEREAS, Janice
has announced her plans to retire in June 2007 and move to Arizona with
her husband Wilfred to be closer to her family and to be a full time Grandma;and WHEREAS,
an
avid sports fan - Janice can now cheer her N.Y. Giants or her favorite NASCAR driver
to victory all weekend long and not have to worry about coming to work on Monday
with laryngitis; and WHEREAS, the City
staff will miss her off-key singing, her ever-changing hair styles,
her train stories, her overflowing drawer of shoes, her sports reporting (did we mention
she's a N.Y. Giants fan?) - in other words, the office will never be the same without her; and
we hope that if she is inclined to arise at 4:00 a.m., that it is not to catch a train to work, but
to enjoy the beautiful Arizona sunrises; and WHEREAS, maybe -
just maybe - shewill now have the time to remember her daily Starbucks order - a Vente
Vanilla Cream Frappuccino, No Beans, along with a cranberry-orange scone.NOW, THEREFORE, BE
IT RESOLVED,
that the City Council of the City of Orange congratulates Janice Marchan on
over 20 years of service to the City of Orange and wishes her a happy and
healthy retirement.
