A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO JACK R. HILL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE
FIRE DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HIM
FOR TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF LOYAL
AND DEDICATED
SERVICE.WHEREAS, Jack R. "Russ" Hill joined the Orange Fire Department as
a firefighter on November 10, 1981. He received a special assignment as a Fire
Inspector in August, 1989 until he returned to suppression in 1991;
and WHEREAS, Russ was known throughout his entire career for
consistently,willingly and cheerfully maintaining his station and apparatus in an exceptional
manner;
and WHEREAS, Russ is an excellent communicator in both English and Spanish.
He translated for the "Bombero 1986" program which provided training in fire, rescue
and disaster preparedness to 125 firefighters from Mexico and Guatemala;
and WHEREAS, one of his supervisors said, " Human Relations is his domain.
We could all learn from his example of how to get along. He demonstrates this skill
with coworkers and the public. He is tolerant of all people and is a great customer service
rep for the department;"
and WHEREAS, Russ has always done what he loves and he's done it well. One
of his supervisors said "Jack is what the Fire Service needs more of...a highly
qualified senior firefighter who loves his job." Russ has been a valued member of the Orange
Fire Department and will be
missed.NOW, THEREFORE, I, Carolyn V. Cavecche, Mayor of the City of Orange,
on behalf of the entire City Council hereby recognize and congratulate Jack "Russ" Hill
for his loyal and dedicated service to the citizens of Orange for twenty-five years
and wish Russ a long, happy and
healthy retirement.ADOPTED this 13th day of
February, 2007
