A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING
PALM AVENUE BETWEEN LEMON STREET AND
CYPRESS STREET, AND CYPRESS STREET FROM
PALM AVENUE TO MAPLE AVENUE, FROM 7:00
A.M. TO 12:00 P.M. SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 10,
2007; FOR A SPECIAL EVENT AT CHAPMAN
UNIVERSITY.
WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 2] ]OO(E)(e) authorizes cities to close portions of
streets for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the
closing is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the
street during the temporary closing; and
WHEREAS, Chapman University has requested a temporary closure of a section of
Palm A venue and Cypress Street, and
WHEREAS, Chapman University has agreed to comply with the regulations governing
celebrations in public places, that alcoholic beverages on public streets are a violation of the law,
the applicant will provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure
acceptable to the City, including the Police and Public Works Departments; Chapman University
will also notify area residents of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the
Police Department's directions; it is the applicants' responsibility to clean the streets after the
event, and to maintain] 2 feet of unobstructed access for emergency vehicles.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Orange does resolve as follows:
That Palm Avenue from Lemon Street and Cypress Street, and
Cypress Street from Palm Avenue to Maple Avenue, be closed
from 7:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 10, 2007.
