A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO PHILLIP BONINA OF THE PLANNING
COMMISSION FOR HIS SIX AND A HALF YEARS
OF DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Phillip Bonina has served as a Planning Commissioner for over six and a
half years during which time he has gained the respect of fellow Commissioners, elected
officials, staff and the citizens of Orange. He served as Commission Chair from February 2005
to February 2007; and
WHEREAS, during his six and a half years, Phillip has been an important member of the
Planning Commission. He significantly contributed to the successful planning of some of the
most complex planning projects in the City's history, such as Santiago Hills II and the East
Orange Planned Community, the Main Library expansion, Del Rio LLC, Chapman University
School of Film and Television, S1. Joseph Hospital Master Plan and the transformation of the
Mall of Orange into The Village; and
WHEREAS, Phillip's professionalism, integrity, and knowledge have contributed
greatly to the Planning Commission. He understands the challenges facing the City of Orange
and always acted in the best interest of the City. His dedication and commitment to the Planning
Commission's responsibilities has been commendable; and
WHEREAS, Phillip's calm demeanor and desire to hear all sides of an issue permitted
him to make well informed decisions; and always brought a unique and valuable perspective to
each decision; and
WHEREAS, Phillip came to the Planning Commission with the desire to help guide and
shape the City's future and to participate in helping the City to grow - his participation on the Commission
has added to the overall betterment of the City; and WHEREAS,
Phillip has been a long time resident of Orange and even though he will no longer
be serving on the Planning Commission, we are sure he will continue to be involved in the issues
and concerns of the City; and NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange that
Phillip Bonina be congratulated for over six and a half years of dedicated service to the Planning
Commission, the Community Development Department, and the City of Orange; and
ADOPTED this loth day of June, 2008.
