A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO TARA FINNIGAN FOR NINE YEARS OF
LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY
OF ORANGE.
WHEREAS, Tara Finnigan began her career at the City of Orange on October 26,
1998 as Business and Public Affairs Manager in the Economic Development Department;
and,
WHEREAS, Tara's primary responsibilities were in the areas of marketing, pubhc
and business relations, media relations, and community outreach, as well as overseeing all
filming activities that take place in the City; and,
WHEREAS, given early recognition of her skills and talents, Tara's role expanded to
include that of Public Information Officer, where she consistently and effectively
communicated the City's position on a number of high profile issues and crisis situations; and,
WHEREAS, Tara was responsible for overseeing production of the quarterly Orange
Progress which, under her leadership, became the standard against which other cities' similar
publications are judged; and,
WHEREAS, Tara was directly responsible for ensuring that the annual State of the
City event ran smoothly and was the success it has become; and,
WHEREAS, Tara consistently sought out additional learning and educational
opportunities, most recently evidenced by receiving her Accredited in Public Relations (APR)
certification and decision to return to school and pursue a graduate degree at George
Washington University; and,
WHEREAS, Tara is a consummate professional who takes her job very seriously and
has served as an outstanding representative of the Economic Development Department and
the City; and,
WHEREAS, Tara is a reliable, dedicated, and loyal team player with an exemplary
work ethic who never has a bad day and is always in control; and,
WHEREAS, while we will miss her professionalism and camaraderie, we sincerely
wish her the best in her new position as Public Information Manager for the City of Newport
Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Orange,
and the citizens of the City of Orange, hereby commend and congratulate Tara Finnigan for
her nine years of exceptional, dedicated and loyal service to our city.
