A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO PAUL MARTINEZ OF THE COMMUNITY
SERVICES DEPARTMENT, PARKS DIVISION, AND
COMMENDING HIM FOR MORE THAN THIRTY-
EIGHT YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED
SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Paul Martinez began his career with the City of Orange on April 3,
1972, working for the Parks Division as a Park Caretaker. He has held many positions with
the City since that time, including Park Development Gardener, Park Maintenance Man I,
Park Maintenance Man II, Gang Mower Operator, Parks Skilled Maintenance, and now
Skilled Maintenance Worker; and
WHEREAS, Paul is a dedicated and dependable team player. Over the years Paul
worked on many weekends maintaining the community's beloved Hart Park pool. He shows
up to work with a smile and a willingness to do whatever he is called upon to do by his lead
worker or supervisor; and
WHEREAS, Paul has replaced and repaired more toilets throughout the park
system than many of us will ever even see in a lifetime; and
WHEREAS, Paul has laid enough lateral irrigation line to circle the entire City of
Orange at least once; and
WHEREAS, there have been thousands of hot dogs and burgers cooked and
enjoyed due to the hundreds of BBQ's and picnic benches Paul has installed in our parks; and
WHEREAS, Paul has changed enough bulbs in the light standards in the parks to
light up the Big A for a year; and
WHEREAS, a huge fringe benefit to having Paul on the Community Service
Department Team is having access to his wife Linda's GREAT pies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council, on behalf of the
employees and citizens of the City of Orange, hereby express our appreciation to Paul
Martinez for over 38 years of loyal and dedicated service and wish him and his wife Linda a
happy and fulfilling retirement.
