A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO GREG SOLIZ OF THE COMMUNITY
SERVICES DEPARTMENT FOR 31 YEARS OF
VALUED, LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Greg Soliz began his City of Orange Career on June 3, 1980, as a
CETA Title II Maintenance Trainee in the Community Services Department; and
WHEREAS, Greg worked with the Tree Division for four years and advanced from
Maintenance Trainee to Tree Trimmer. Greg endeavored to expand his knowledge and skills
of tree identification, tree planting and professional trimming of both juvenile and mature
trees throughout the City of Orange. In 1994 Greg transferred to the Parks Division and
worked as a Maintenance Worker I working on maintaining public rights -of -way and public
buildings; and
WHEREAS, in 1994 Greg was promoted to Maintenance Worker II and he was
assigned to various parks throughout the park system. Greg brought his exemplary work
ethic and tree knowledge and skills to the park system, and park staff continually sought
Greg out for his advice and expertise in arboriculture; and
WHEREAS, in 2001, after serving in the Acting Field Maintenance Leadworker
position for a year, he was promoted to Field Maintenance Leadworker; and
WHEREAS, Greg has always been a role model to staff for the pride and ownership
he displays in every aspect of his work, including his excellent customer service. He is held
in the highest esteem by his co- workers and management, and was voted Employee of the
Quarter in fall of 2007 and Employee of the Year in the summer of 2008; and
WHEREAS, Greg has resided in the City of Orange since 1980 with his wife Cheryl.
Greg looks forward to spending more time with Cheryl and his son Joshua, and continuing to
enjoy his hobbies of buying and restoring antiques and traveling.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, on behalf of the
employees and Citizens of the City of Orange, hereby express to Greg Soliz, appreciation for
30 years of loyal, valued, and dedicated service and wish Greg many years of a happy,
healthy and fulfilling retirement.
