RES-10597 Loyal Service Appreciation For Robert Bob TimboeRESOLUTION NO. 10597 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO FIRE CAPTAIN ROBERT "BOB" TIMBOE OF THE ORANGE CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR TWENTY -SEVEN YEARS OF LOYAL AND DEDICATED SERVICE. WHEREAS, in 1984 Bob was hired as a firefighter for the Orange City Fire Department, and became a Firefighter Paramedic in 1986; and WHEREAS, in 1987 Bob was promoted to Fire Engineer and promoted again in 2002 to Fire Captain; and WHEREAS, for over 20 years, Bob dedicated hundreds of hours of his own time teaching firefighters to become engineers. He was extensively involved in the engineer testing process as a teacher and grader for the Engineer Academy; and WHEREAS, Bob was highly recognized as a great contributor in saving the Cascades Apartment Complex in Anaheim during the freeway fire in Yorba Linda in 2008; and WHEREAS, in 1989, as a Disaster Committee member, Bob assisted with outfitting each fire station with disaster supplies; and WHEREAS, as a member of the Design Committee, Bob assisted with the design and construction of Station 8, along with the design of the proposed Fire Headquarters; and WHEREAS, Bob was a paramedic preceptor for years, during which time he gave staff ride - alongs and hands on training; and WHEREAS, although Bob was well respected, level- headed, honest, and a man of integrity, somehow he got the nickname "Meatball ", which even ended up on his license plate; and WHEREAS, with his family visiting and watching, Bob backed Truck 1 into Fire Headquarters, which shook the building so hard that staff thought they were having a major earthquake; and WHEREAS, Bob was the ultimate supervisor, leader and mentor, and was known as a "friend to all" and the "go -to" guy; NOW, THEREFORE, on the occasion of his retirement from the City of Orange, we wish to recognize Bob Timboe for over 27 years of dedication to the Orange Fire Department and public service. We wish Bob and his family many years of happiness, health, and fulfillment during retirement.
