A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO VIRGINIA NERIO COMMENDING HER FOR
MORE THAN TEN YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ORANGE
AND OVER TWENTY YEARS OF PUBLIC
SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Virginia began her career at the City of Orange in 2002 as the Senior
Executive Assistant in the City Manager's Office. She has been a key player in the City
Council and City Manager's Office. Virginia's positive attitude has been an asset to the City
of Orange; and
WHEREAS, in 2006, Virginia was given the additional responsibility of overseeing
the Mayor and Council Calendars and the preparation of Council proclamations and awards.
She became a "master" at scheduling and tracking Council briefings, setting up meetings and
calendaring events — not a small feat; and
WHEREAS, Virginia has an ability to be flexible while managing the high demands
of working in the Executive Offices and serving on the City's Safety Committee and on the
Orange Chapter of the National Management Association. This flexibility comes through in
her weekly Yoga Class that she voluntarily teaches employees (Namaste); and
WHEREAS, in her day -to -day role, Virginia has been the go- to- person for Council
and City Manager's calls from residents and businesses. In this role, her strong
communication skills helped her to deal with a wide variety of calls and complaints in a
professional and courteous manner; and
WHEREAS, Virginia is known as the "City Hall Party Girl" for her planning skills
in setting up the Employee Holiday Reception, Administration Building Holiday lunch, and
Cinco de Mayo potlucks, as well as other events in her role as the City's lead Executive
Assistant. Virginia's strong organizational skills are evident in all of the projects she
oversees; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Orange,
expresses sincere appreciation to Virginia Nerio and extends their best wishes for a happy
retirement as she travels, enjoys Yoga, takes more dance lessons, reads, spends time with her
children Christine and Ron, and her beloved cat Sabrina. Best wishes on your relocation to
Northern California!
