A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO MARIA D. CERVANTES OF THE PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT AND COMMENDING HER
FOR MORE THAN 21 YEARS OF LOYAL AND
DEDICATED SERVICE.
WHEREAS, Maria D. Cervantes began her career with the City of Orange in April
of 1991 as a Custodian in the General Services Department; and was later transferred to the
Department of Public Works.
WHEREAS, Maria was instrumental in ensuring the buildings and offices
throughout the Civic Center were maintained in a professional manner. Her attention to detail
was second to none and showed in the quality of her work. She was always willing to address
special requests from staff and worked diligently to complete her projects.
WHEREAS, Maria was a key component to the success of numerous meetings
and special events by serving behind the scenes making sure meeting venues and special
provisions were being met.
WHEREAS, Maria was instrumental in maintaining building security throughout
the Civic Center. She was always available and willing to assist when the need would arise
unexpectedly.
WHEREAS, Maria also served the City by inventorying and procuring necessary
custodial supplies to maintain adequate levels to ensure there were no interruptions to
service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council, on behalf of the
employees and citizens of the City of Orange, hereby expresses to Maria Cervantes sincere
appreciation for over 21 years of loyal and dedicated service and wishes Maria a happy and
fulfilling retirement.
