A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE EXPRESSING APPRECIATION
TO ELIZABETH DEMARA FOR THIRTY -EIGHT
YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF ORANGE AND
THE ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Liz began her career as a Library Page in 1978 at the Main Library and
soon after transferred to the newly constructed El Modena Branch Library where she promoted
to Clerk in July of 1987, leading to a life -long career with the City of Orange that has spanned
over thirty -eight years; and
WHEREAS, in 1997, Liz promoted to Senior Clerk where she supervised 6 employees
and continued to develop close ties with the El Modena community where she has lived all of
her life; and
WHEREAS, in 2010, Liz transferred to the Orange Public Library & History Center
and took on the responsibility of scheduling and supervising 11 staff members in addition to
her new Senior Clerk duties; and
WHEREAS, in 2014, Liz served on the Staff Development Day committee offering
suggestions to improve customer service, creating a safe and harmonious environment, and
looking at obstacles as opportunities where staff can succeed; and
WHEREAS, Liz's enthusiasm for change and commitment to excellence in all aspects
of customer service consistently provides a foundation for the success of the division and
Library; and
WHEREAS, Liz understands the value of presenting a cheerful, smiling face to each
and every individual she encounters as a representative of the Orange Public Library; and
WHEREAS, Liz is looking forward to spending more quality time with her family and
grandkids, having leisure time to travel, and purchasing bells to add to her growing collection;
and
WHEREAS, Liz has been both a pleasure and productive presence in the Orange
Public Library, and today we honor her for 38 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Liz will be remembered for her loyalty, great customer service, and
dedication to the Library.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Teresa "Tita" Smith, Mayor of the City of Orange, on behalf
of the entire Orange City Council wish to recognize Liz Demara for thirty -eight years of
dedication to the Orange Public Library and public service. We wish Liz and her family many
years of happiness, health, and fulfillment during her retirement.
