A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING
WEST PALM AVENUE BETWEEN NORTH
CYPRESS STREET AND NORTH LEMON STREET
EVERY SATURDAY, 7 A.M. TO 2 P.M., STARTING
JANUARY 6, 2018, CONTINUING WEEKLY AS A
CONDITION OF THE TEMPORARY USE PERMIT
FOR THE ORANGE HOME GROWN FARMERS
AND ARTISANS MARKET.
WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21100 and OMC 12.5 8.015 (B) authorizes cities to
close portions of streets for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City
Council, the closing is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use the portion
of the street during the temporary closing; and
WHEREAS, Orange Home Grown Farmers and Artisans Market has requested a
temporary closure of West Palm Avenue between North Cypress Street and North Lemon Street
every Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, Orange Home Grown has agreed to comply with the regulations governing
celebrations in public places, that alcoholic beverages on public streets are a violation of the law;
and
WHEREAS, Orange Home Grown will enter into an agreement with the City to provide
for the street closure traffic control; and
WHEREAS, Orange Home Grown will also notify area residents and businesses of the
event and temporary street closure in accordance with the Police Department's directions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Orange,
hereby approves as follows:
That a portion of West Palm Avenue between North Cypress Street and North Lemon
Street, be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays, starting January 6, 2018.
