RES-11068 Temporary Public Street ClosuresRESOLUTION NO. 11068 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE TEMPORARILY CLOSING SECTIONS OF PUBLIC STREETS FOR APPROVED SPECIAL EVENTS. WHEREAS, Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) authorizes cities to close portions of streets for celebrations and local special events when, in the opinion of the City Council, the closing is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to use that portion of the street during the temporary closing; and WHEREAS, the Orange International Street Fair, Inc., and the Community Services Department have requested temporary street closures to accommodate several special events in the streets. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Orange as follows: ORANGE INTERNATIONAL STREET FAIR, INC. Section I That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street to Grand Street; and Glassell Street from Almond Avenue to Maple Avenue be closed from 7:00 p.m. Thursday — August 30, 2018, thru 6:00 a.m. Monday — September 3, 2018. Section II: That before said closure shall occur Orange International Street Fair, Inc. shall comply with all terms and conditions pertaining to a preapproved Agreement. Section III That Orange International Street Fair, Inc. shall notify area residents and businesses of the event and temporary street closure in accordance with the conditions pertaining to the preapproved Agreement. TREATS IN THE STREETS AUTUMN FESTIVAL — CITY OF ORANGE COMMUNITY SERVICES Section I That the southeast quadrant of the Plaza be closed from 5:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. — Thursday, October 25, 2018. Section II That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street to Grand Street; and Glassell Street from Almond Avenue to Maple Avenue be closed from 1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018. Section III That before said closure shall occur, the City of Orange Community Services Department with assistance from Orange Police and Public Works Departments shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City. Section IV The City of Orange Community Services Department shall notify area residents, businesses, and OCTA of the event and temporary street closure and parking removal in accordance with the Police Department's directions. VETERAN'S TRIBUTE — CITY OF ORANGE COMMUNITY SERVICES Section I That Atchison Street from Chapman Avenue to Maple Avenue be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday —November 11, 2018. Section II That before said closure shall occur, the City of Orange Community Services Department with assistance from Orange Police and Public Works Departments shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City. Section III The City of Orange Community Services Department shall notify Ruby's Diner and OCTA of the event and temporary street closure and parking removal in accordance with the Police Department's directions. TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY & CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION — CITY OF ORANGE COMMUNITY SERVICES Section I That the northeast quadrant of the Plaza be closed from 3:00 a.m. Sunday — December 2, 2018, until 10:00 a.m. Monday — December 3, 2018. Resolution No. 11068 Section II That Chapman Avenue be closed from Lemon Street to Grand Street and Glassell Street from Almond Avenue to Maple Avenue be closed from 3:00 a.m. —11:30 p.m., Sunday, December 2, 2018. Section III That before said closure shall occur, the City of Orange Community Services Department with assistance from Orange Police and Public Works Departments shall provide all signing, barricades and traffic control necessary for the closure acceptable to the City. Section IV The City of Orange Community Services Department shall notify area residents, businesses, and OCTA of the event and temporary street closure and parking removal in accordance with the Police Department's direction.
