RES-11149 Recognizing The 2020 CensusRESOLUTION NO. 11149 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORANGE RECOGNIZING THE 2020 CENSUS. WHEREAS, an accurate census count is vital to the community and residents of the City of Orange by helping the City gain an understanding of the population it serves, determine where to locate infrastructure and land uses, and is used to make decisions concerning business growth and housing needs; and WHEREAS, more than $675 billion per yeaz in federal and state funding is allocated to states and communities based on census data; and WHEREAS, census data ensure fair congessional representarion by determining how many seats each state will have in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the redistricGng of state legislatures, county and city councils, and voting districts; and WFIEREAS, the 2020 Census creates jobs that stunulate economic growth and increase employment opportunities in our community; and WHEREAS, the information collected by the census is protected by law and remains confidential for 72 yeazs. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Orange as follows: 1. The CiTy of Orange is committed to collaborating with the U.S. Census Bureau to help ensure a full and accurate count in 2020. 2. As a 2020 Census Partner,the City of Orange: A. Supports the goals and ideals for the 2020 Census and will disseminate 2020 Census information to encourage residents of our communities to participate; B. Encourages people in the City of Orange to place on emphasis on the 2020 Census and participate in events and initiative that will raise overall awazeness of the 2020 Census and ensure full and accurate census; and C.
